What is 2FA and how does it work

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a specific type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that strengthens access security by requiring two authentication factors to verify your identity when logging on to platforms. For more information see HERE. These two factors are typically a username and password, as well as a smartphone app such as Google Authenticator, which is the one we recommend you use. The app is what you'll apply to approve authentication requests.

Good to know:

2FA protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your login as passwords are often weak and easy to guess.

How do I activate and deactivate 2FA

To activate and de-activate 2FA proceed to Settings -> Account -> 2FA.

Activation:

Enter your password and confirm it by re-entering it.
A pop up will appear with your QR code on the left, and recovery codes on the right. Make sure to save these, as you might need them in the future. Scanning the QR code will generate a 6 figure code which will appear on your authenticator app of choice. Apply the 6 digits to the platform, and you will receive a confirmation message that you now have enabled 2FA.

Good to know:

The QR and codes will only be shown once, and they will be destroyed when you close the dialogue window.

Deactivation:

To deactivate 2FA enter your password and click Disable.

What is SSO and how does it work

SSO is an authentication method that lets you log in once and then access multiple apps or systems without logging in again each time. Our SSO login feature allows you to sign in to the platform using your Google account. Proceed to the platform login page on platform.easytranslate.com. If you want to continue with SSO click on Sign-in with Google.

Using our SSO login feature simplifies the login. Simply click on the google icon and you'll receive a pop up window asking you to select the Google account that you'd like to log in with.

Good to know:

If you log in, and/or sign up using SSO, you will no longer be able to log in using your previous credentials (email and password), even if you click on Forgot password and create a new one.
Once logged in using SSO, you'll be able to use your credentials to enable 2FA.
